Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner have earned a collective 8 primetime and daytime Emmy Awards, as well as multiple Golden Globes, Writers Guild, Parent’s Choice, BAFTA, World Animation, and TV-Land Legend Awards for writing and producing Cheers and creating Disney’s Teacher’s Pet. Tony-nominated for writing the original book for Sister Act the Musical, the Steinkellners met onstage at The Groundlings comedy theatre in Los Angeles, where Bill co-wrote and directed the original Pee Wee Herman Show, later reprising his writer’s duties for its acclaimed Broadway run.
Shared TV credits include The Jeffersons, Family Ties, Benson, The Facts of Life, Bob (Newhart), Hope and Gloria, and Who’s The Boss?
Other stage works include Hello! My Baby, Cheri’s Indy Award-winning, Ovation-nominated musical-comedy valentine to the Great American Songbook, as well as Jailbirds on Broadway, Princesses, Tonight in Dreamland, Prima Materia, and InstaPlay, L.A.’s first-and longest-running-improvised staged musical (est. 1978). Lecturers at Stanford, USC, and UC Santa Barbara, Bill and Cheri were the first faculty recipients of UCSB’s 2016 Inspiration Award. Bill is the L.A. Times bestselling author of Postcards From The Moon and currently writing his memoir, Tankertown. Cheri lectures internationally.
Her original romantic-comedy features Come Sail Away and Betwixtmas are currently in development, and she is happily immersed in writing her debut novel, 4D: The Room that Time Forgot.
